Baselworld 2015: The First Vulcain Cricket 1947 Reborn
50S PRESIDENTS’WATCH « VULCAIN FOR HEINER LAUTERBACH » THE FIRST VULCAIN CRICKET 1947 REBORN
Since the end of 2013, Vulcain is proud to be able to count German actor Heiner Lauterbach, who is also a watch enthusiast, as one of its ambassadors. As a connoisseur of the watch industry, Heiner Lauterbach possesses an acute sense of design and an appreciation of technical details, and recognises the importance of impeccable manufacturing quality. His philosophy dovetails perfectly with that of the Le Locle-based manufacture, which is a part of the great tradition of watchmaking, with expertise in the luxury sector, and the fields of technology and design.
So, it was a natural step for the brand to develop a special model in collaboration with its ambassador. After having worn the first Vulcain Cricket watch during the filming of his series «Tannbach», the actor knew there was only one logical choice of design for his first limited edition. With its appearance based on the legendary first Cricket watch dating from 1947, this timepiece subtly combines a vintage look with contemporary precision. With its mother of pearl dial, bicolour pink gold/steel case and honey alligator strap, this 50s Presidents’ Cricket reflects the aesthetic style of the 1950s.
HEINER LAUTERBACH
Born in Cologne in April 1953, Heiner Lauterbach realised at a young age that he would prefer the ups and downs of life as an actor to conventional studies. Aged eighteen, he was accepted to the Cologne conservatory for the dramatic arts.
One year later, he was already acting on the stage, followed shortly after by a stint behind the camera. Heiner Lauterbach quickly made a name for himself re-recording dialogue for foreign language films, notably lending his voice to great American actors such as Richard Gere, Kevin Costner and John Malkovich.
