Baselworld 2015 - Quartz teams up with diamonds to remain a girl’s best friend
Going from one brand to another we end up walking around with branded shopping bags as if we were spending the afternoon on 5th Avenue, browsing one diamond timepiece to another with the difference that we simply look, sometimes try on but most probably dream of some exquisite pieces of beauty.

For the Watchonistas we all are, spending hundreds of thousands on a quartz movement is a shame. However, jewelry timepieces are the exception to the rule for the design to prevail.
This year, the iconic Bvlgari Serpenti underwent a noticeable evolution in the snake-like bracelet where the entire mechanism changed in order to wind around the wrist with perfection. For that to happen, more springs were added to the system allowing the different links to be adjusted. In addition to the changes, the combination of red gold, blue and red laquer with a diamond paved head and tail - 100% made in Italy- is perfect to keep on living a dolce vita!
Plunged into an enchanting Arabian night, the secret watch of the Harry Winston compact made of diamonds, fine pearls, mother of pearl and white gold is a splendid beauty. The delicacy of the outside design suggests an object only a woman with high standards would carry around. Yet, the inside mirror on the upper hand fades away allowing the center dial made of mother of pearl surrounded with lotus diamond flower shine. And that’s a woman’s essential!
Moving towards high jewelry, Graff launched what can perfectly define a jewelry timepiece. The Halo Secret Ring Watch has a completely unique design and yet surprisingly confortable as it doesn’t turn around your finger even with its weight. Set with a central stone, paved with diamonds and rubies all over, it is by sliding around the dome of the ring that the secret watch appears. Obviously set with a quartz movement to fit such a narrow yet proportionate use of space, the Halo Secret Ring Watch would be the highlight of this Basel Edition.
